The Center of Mediterranean Archeology of the University of Warsaw will establish a research station in Paphos, Cyprus. The facility will be managed by prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka (Jagiellonian University and CAŚ UW), head of a joint archaeological expedition in Nea Paphos.
The facility will have a housing base made available to Polish researchers, and its tasks will include (after: PCMA):
- conducting scientific research in Cyprus, in particular in the field of archaeological research;
- cooperation with the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus and the Cypriot authorities;
- logistics services for Polish scientific expeditions in Cyprus;
- formal service of Polish expeditions working in Cyprus;
- enhancing cooperation with other scientists and archaeological expeditions working in Cyprus;
- cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Cyprus;
- popularization of Polish archaeological activity in Cyprus;
- promotion and archaeological education of the inhabitants of Cyprus and tourists visiting the island, especially Paphos.
