Invitation to Thursdays lecture at the National Museum in Warsaw

This Thursday (13/05/2021) at 6:00 p.m. (CEST), the project manager, Prof. dr hab. E. Papuci-Władyka will deliver a speech on 55 years of Polish archaeological research in Nea Paphos, the capital of ancient Cyprus. The lecture will be held as part of the Thursdays Lectures Series at the National Museum in Warsaw. The event will be broadcast online!

Event description:

In 2020, 55 years have passed since the initiation of Polish research in Paphos, on a site included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. They were started by prof. Kazimierz Michałowski in 1965, when the Polish Archaeological Mission Center (then the Station) of Mediterranean Archeology of the University of Warsaw was established. In 2011, a second Polish expedition from the Jagiellonian University, led by a speaker, began exploring the Paphos agora. The lecture will show the most important achievements and results of many years of Polish archaeological activity in Cyprus.
 
Prof. dr hab. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka - from the beginning of her scientific career she has been associated with the Jagiellonian University. For 25 years she participated in the work of the Polish Mission of the University of Warsaw in Paphos, later she created the Paphos Agora Project of the Jagiellonian University. She is the head of the Department of Classical Archeology at the Institute of Archeology of the Jagiellonian University, and from 2020 he is also a visiting professor at the Center of Mediterranean Archeology of the University of Warsaw. She is also the deputy director of the Polish Archaeological Institute in Athens.
